 Can
I choose my own Home Inspector?
Yes,
of course you can choose your Home Inspector!
Many home buyers mistakenly think that because their
real estate agent organizes the termite
inspection, the appraiser and the surveyor, that
they automatically organize the home inspection
as well.
This is not so.
Because the home inspection is such an important
part of the home buying process, most real estate
agents will want your
input, in fact they will want you to decide which inspector you
want to use.
You should be involved in selecting the
home inspector or home inspection company that will be doing the
inspection of the biggest purchase you will make this year and
possibly in your life.
It is your decision, be informed. After all, the inspector will be working for you!
If you have already found an inspector that you want to work
with let your real estate agent know when the time comes for the
inspection. Most real estate agents will be pleased that
you already have a home inspector lined up and
ready to do the inspection on your new home.
The only reason that real estate agents give
out the names of home inspectors is because most
purchasers do not know the names of the
inspectors in the area who are professional,
competent, knowledgeable and certified.
Remember,
not all Home Inspectors are the same
