NITRATE / NITRITE TEST
Test for contamination in the
water supply from fertilizers, pesticides and animal waste.
Nitrate/nitrite maximum content
levels should not exceed 10mg per liter.
According to Greene county
health dept, there are no mandatory regulations
to deal with water for home use, that exceeds the 10mg level.
They are only concerned with the results if the level is high and
the household has a new baby that is been fed
formula made with the water.
Public buildings, businesses and homes with
more than 20 people fall under regulations that mandate
regular testing of the water supply and a reduction of the
nitrate / nitrite.
Nitrate / nitrite is often found in
water as a result of fertilizer use on adjacent farm land, or
from water that is contaminated by animal waste.
To remove the nitrate / nitrite
form drinking water a reverse osmosis water
filtration system should be installed.
Lab results: Depending on what
time of the month the tests are made will
determine how long it will take for the results
to come back. It can take up to two and a half or
three weeks for the results to come back.
If rush
results are necessary we
can arrange for a different lab to do the
analysis, a surcharge will apply
(depending on the lab).
On site test: we do an on site
test to give you an idea of what the final lab
results will be.
NOTE: Only the results from the lab are
binding.
