HARDNESS

Aka. Total hardness. Water hardness affects how laundry detergents, shampoos and soap work. Hard water makes it hard for soaps to "bubble" and reduces their cleaning power. 

Hard water leaves a translucent film on glass, and spots will also be noticed on a newly washed car.

Hard water will build up a lime deposit in piping and appliances deteriorating hot water heaters, washing machines and dishwashers.

Note: Hardness can be controlled with a water softener.

WATER SOFTENER
A Hardness/softness test can also be used to check the functionality of the water softener, how well it is working and its effectiveness.
