WATER FLOW / QUANTITY (GALLONS) 
 PRESSURE TEST & EVALUATION

Usually conducted on wells.

This is a test of the well to establish how many gallons per minute produces, if it is a functional well and how the pump and pressure equipment is working.

The pressure that the water is delivered, is monitored both at the beginning and at the end of the test. The pressure settings are recorded and the pumps pressure switch is monitored to determine that it is operating according to its settings. Normal pressure settings are 30/50 Lbs or 40/60 Lbs. The lower figure is the cut in pressure for the pump, the higher figure is the shut off pressure.

The pressure tank is examined to determine that it is functioning correctly (allowing the pump to cycle properly). Its overall condition is noted along with the condition of the pressure switch, pressure gauge, wiring and shut off valves.

Some wells produce a good volume of water (gallons per minute) for a short period of time, but fail to maintain the quantity/flow necessary when heavy use is necessary. To replicate this type of occurrence the water flow monitoring and testing is conducted for a period of one hour.

At the start of the test the gallons per minute are measured, at the end of the test the gallons per minute (flow rate) are again measured measured. The result wants a minimum of 3 gallons per minute. The difference between gallons delivered at the start and finish of the test are observed, a serious drop in gallons delivered indicates a well that needs a flow restrictor or there is the possibility that it is a poor well.

A good flow rate is in the 5 gallons or more range.

The report includes detailed information on the location of the well, the casing, distance from the septic, pressure gauge, wiring and piping.
