Home Safety

NEW HOME SAFETY

Moving into a new home, is often moving to a new area and into a home that numerous other people have been through before you. Take a few minutes and organize to have these few basic things done.

Have all exterior door locks re-keyed or replaced. You don't know who may still have a copy of your new home’s keys.

Change the code on the garage door opener.

Make sure all exterior lights in the front and back are working.

Check that all the windows and doors lock securely.

If there is a security system, have a representative from the security company come out and test it. Have them show you how it operates. New passwords and codes should be programmed into the system.

Are there 911 emergency services available in the community? Knowing this information will save valuable time if there is an emergency.

Know where the nearest emergency clinic or hospital is, if you have children find out where the children's hospital is, and how to get there!

These are all simple things to do, please take a little time now and organize yourself. Drive to the hospital, so you are familiar with the route. It may seem excessive, but in an emergency - minutes save lives.
